3 Simple Things Could be Keeping You from Finding Your Purpose

Updated: Apr 18, 2022

Some people think that finding your purpose is a lifelong ambition that only a few get to achieve, that you need to be rich and elite or be someone who has the time to go away to an Ashram or Buddhist retreat in order to find it. There are also those who think “I have the great house, the luxury car, a great bank balance, kids…” In other words, they believe that they have it all and are kidding themselves into thinking they have a fulfilled life full of purpose. Then there are those who think “I’m comfortable being who I am, doing what I am doing and living how I am living”, in other words stuck in their comfort zone.

Yet most of the people that fall into these categories still have that sinking feeling that there’s something missing from their life and have a longing desire for something else. Is this you? The truth is there could be 3 things that are preventing you from finding your true purpose in life.

1. Acknowledgement

The ability to admit and acknowledge that it’s okay to want more out of life without judgement. Many people go through life ignoring the signs that are telling you it’s time for a change and not realising that this is preventing you from taking the action needed to follow your true purpose.

2. Limiting Thoughts

These are the thoughts that keep on telling you that “you’re not good enough”, “you’ll fail”, “you don’t deserve to be happy and fulfilled”……That voice in your head, which needs to be turned off or changed to “you’re great”, you’ll try and try until you succeed”, you deserve all the happiness and fulfilment in the world”.

3. Comfort Zone

Your comfort zone i.e. the safety of an environment within which you have become comfortable, could be a relationship, a career, a business, a friends circle, a home. Any of these could actually be the thing that is stopping you from reaching your true purpose. Your subconscious mind is there to keep you safe and protected and save you from the unknown but you need to push outside of your comfort zone to achieve true purpose.
